People like you are the most damaging thing people are forced to put up with in this world. People who quote from the bible verbatim as though it was fact. This is a group of books cobbled together, by MAN, translated by MAN, and interpreted by MAN. There is no God involved in putting together the bible. It was men who decided which books would be included in the current bible and which were excluded. Since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, it has become obvious that there are alternate interpretations to what happened in the early days of the Jesus cult. Let's call it what it was. Today, his movement would be called a cult or sect.
My concern is that it has survived so long and I do so wish that all major religions of the world would disappear and be replace with a more rational interpretation of the world. I have studied the bible and it is filled with violence, revenge and retribution. It encourages the murder of those with alternate views and relegates women to the status of second class citizens. It has been said that you can justify anything with a bible reference and that is true.
People like you are dangerous and no different to terrorists. Instead of explosives you use outdated, ancient, mythical quotes from a book written nearly 2000 years ago to terrorise people. Well done, as most Christian organization, you are fantastic at suppressing people by using guilt. You use simple language to support your flimsy propositions backed by nothing more than a quote from the bible.
People will not go to hell if they suicide. It is likely that there is no such place, despite the fact that the bible says there is. People are afraid of dying and that's why people all around the world have this need to believe in something better after death. Whether it is Nirvana, Heaven or whatever else I believe it is fear of death that drives us to believe all of this heaven/hell rubbish. Simple people like you who live their life on the basis of the rubbish in that book support this fantasy.
You dismiss looking back as psychologists often do with clients but you are a fool. It is not all about blaming everything on the past, it is about UNDERSTANDING the past and what brought people to where they are now. This helps in planning what is best moving forward.
That's as much time as I am going to waste on an un-educated, dangerous individual like you. Your comments are filled with judgmental generalizations that are often invalid.
My response is in Green:
Wow, so in your view, quoting Bible passages in an attempt to keep someone from committing suicide is the same as strapping on explosives and killing innocent people! I also find it interesting that you didn't mention your bias in your e-mail. You know the reason you were so upset that I don't like psychologist and their looking back to find people's problems, you even called me a fool for that position, yet you failed to mention you make your money in psychology. I did a search for you and found your website, I also found that your e-mail domain belongs to a Mission website. In fact I found it funny that this website from which owns the domain you sent your e-mail from holds church services. I wonder, do they actually quote from or use the Bible? If so how can you possibly be part of such a terrorist organization?
I also found it amusing that you didn't seem sure of your own stand. You take me to task for telling people that if they reject God and commit suicide they will end up in hell. You make the statement: "It is likely that there is no such place, despite the fact that the bible says there is." Wow, it is only 'likely' that there is no such place? Well since there is a doubt in your mind, what would be the purpose of hell if in fact there is such a place? Seems to call into question your whole e-mail doesn't it?
You also make this statement: "Your comments are filled with judgmental generalizations that are often invalid." Often invalid, sounds kind of like you admit that sometimes my comments aren't invalid, yet you call me a terrorist... Are you sure of your position? Before you try to tell me you never called me a terrorist you said I was no different than... which is the same as calling me one.
I am sure of my position, unlike you. I actually feel sorry for you, you should at least have an open mind and not try to lump all religions together, but if you are going to, you should know that psychology is as much a religion as Christianity is, which is exactly my problem with Christians using it.
I am actually happy that you try to help people through your website, but I am saddened that you would attack someone like me who is also trying to help people, even if you totally disagree with my approach as I totally disagree with yours. I don't think you are dangerous, closed minded, biased; yes, but not dangerous, although I have to wonder if it were in your power whether you wouldn't lock people like me up or worse.
You should really do some research on the Bible before dismissing it off hand as you do. I have studied psychology, both formally and independently. Surprised? I was a Police Officer for 8 years and at one point was going for a psychology degree to help me deal with people in my job, so I don't just blindly attack psychology without knowing what it is about.
Oh you claim to have studied the Bible, but if you did you sure missed a lot. You said it encourages murder; really? Did you miss this?
13 "You shall not murder."
It is even stated again in a different place:
13 "You shall not murder."
And quoted in the New Testament also:
11 For He who said, "DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," also said, "DO NOT COMMIT MURDER." Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
Yep, I guess you missed all that and this too:
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR, and hate your enemy.' 44 "But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you 45 in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 "For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax-gatherers do the same?
You know loving your enemies sure doesn't sound like killing people who disagree with you or committing murder. I guess you didn't do such a good job of studying the Bible, wouldn't you say? Of course you wouldn't say that, it would mean you would have to agree the Bible isn't as evil as you claim it is and that wouldn't fit your bias.
Well as you said yourself: "That's as much time as I am going to waste on an un-educated,
dangerous individual like you." Notice I got rid of the dangerous part.
