Can't believe Jesus walked the earth as a human

I believe in what you have to say, but I still question that Jesus walked this world in human form. I'm trying, I pray to God always out loud, any where I'm at. I feel I'm sinning because I question the fact that Jesus walked this world.

My response is in Green:

Thanks for writing me. The questions you have are the defining points of Christianity. Here is what the Bible has to say about it:(1 John 4:2-3 NIV) This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, {3} but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

Satan could care less if you believe in Christ as long as you don't believe He came to earth as a human and died for our sins. Or he could care less if you believe Jesus was a real person who walked the earth, as long as you don't believe He was the incarnate Son of God. Either of these beliefs without the other part are worthless. If Jesus did not come as a human and die for our sins then we have no salvation. If Jesus was not the Son of God and therefore pure and holy, then He could not die for our sins, again we have no salvation.

That is why I believe you are having these doubts. Satan is trying to get you to believe one without the other, because to do so denies your salvation. So lets take a look at the facts. There is plenty of historical data to guarantee that a man named Jesus who claimed to be the Son of God did walk this earth. Further it is easy historically (without the Bible or other Christian writings) to prove that this man Jesus had a large following of people who believed He was who He said He was. You can even prove through Roman writings that He was put to death for claiming to be the Jewish Messiah, and that His followers abandoned Him at that time. Then you can prove that shortly after His death, His followers again came together and that many other people joined them in their faith. Now up to this point, you can prove there was a Jesus who walked this earth, and who claimed to be the Son of God, but you can't prove He was who He said He was.

But if you look at what happened later you begin to be able to prove there was something special about this 'man.' After His death (and resurrection according to the Bible) the Romans began to worry about this new 'sect' because so many people were following it. They thought it might threaten their rule, so they outlawed the belief in Jesus Christ. They persecuted the new Christians. They would sew them into animal skins and then let wild animals attack them. Some were dipped in hot wax and then tied to poles in the gardens to light the gardens for evening parties that Nero held. Others were herded into the coliseum and then lions were let loose to attack them. Other were boiled in oil. The list goes on and on. None of that is very special, until you realize that these people would not deny their faith, and in fact the more the Romans persecuted them the more there seemed to be of them. Everyone of the original disciples (excluding Judas who hung himself; and John who was put in boiling oil but lived and was then banished to an island) were all martyred. Why would the people who ran when Jesus was killed, just a few short days later be willing to give their lives instead of denying their faith? I believe it is because they saw the risen Christ and that gave them strength.

So there you have it. You can prove that Jesus did walk the earth and I believe you can prove to your own satisfaction that He was who He claimed to be; the Son of God. If either of those is untrue then you have nothing to believe in, because salvation can come no other way. Either Jesus was fully God and fully human and walked this earth, died for our sins and rose again, or everything we believe is a lie and we are doomed just like everyone else.

Just try to believe and ask Jesus to help you. First and most important is that you ask Him to forgive you of your sins and then ask Him to help you to believe and live the kind of life He wants you to. There is a point where you just have to have faith, but like I showed you above it does not have to be blind faith.
