People like you make me mad!

Man people like you make me mad!!! You are sooo close minded,, you can't except the fact that there are many other!! Good!! People in the world who have chosen to lead a life other than the christian life, you people seem to think that anyone and anything that isn't exactly like you is sinful!! And that is truly bull ****!! I went to church once when I was still in search of the right religion for me,, only to be preached at, and be told that if I didnt choose christianity I would go to hell!! Well if thats the case that id rather go to hell that spend eternety with a manipulative god! Your heven could very well be anothers hell!! When I look on the internet at all the websites on different religion, christianity is pretty much the only one who tries to presure you into the f****ing religion. It truly knows how to make a person feel s***ty!! I know that you have chosen christianity and I have no problem what so ever with that fact. I know that christianity will always be a big part of society, but I hope you are willing to accept that there are many other people with different religious back grounds who are more deserving of a spot in heaven than alot of christians! I speak not only for myself but for those who share an open mind!!!!

My response is in Green:

Thanks for writing me. I am sorry that people like me make you mad. You don't make me mad, but you do frustrate me a little bit. You are what you claim I am and you don't even know me. What I mean is that you have judged me and are closed minded about it, yet you don't even know what I believe. Yes I believe that the Bible is the Word of God and therefore I believe that if you don't accept Christ as your savior you will not get into heaven. However, you won't find anywhere on my site where I claim to be better than you or that I deserve to get into heaven and you don't. You see I don't deserve to get into heaven either. That is the beauty of what God has done for us. He gave His only Son to die for our sins so that we could get into heaven even though we don't deserve it.

Also, I do accept the fact that there are lots of other religions out there, I just don't accept the idea that they all lead to God. I also don't believe that anyone who is not exactly like me is sinful. Does that surprise you? It shouldn't if you bothered to read my page. You see I think 'everyone' is sinful including myself and all the other Christians. The only difference is that the Christians have been forgiven and are trying to live a life that glorifies God, and with His help and only with His help we can live a life which honors Him. Christians believe that we are all born into a sinful life due to the sin of Adam and Eve, but there is more than that to it. Everyone of us has sinned and therefore fall under the judgment of a Holy God. Can you honestly tell me you have never sinned? Never told a lie, never stolen anything, etc...?

The Bible, which as I said I believe says:(Romans 3:22-24 NIV) This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, {23} for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, {24} and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

(Ezekiel 18:4 NIV) For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son--both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die.

This all gets to the core of the issue. You are absolutely right that Christians are about the only religion that go out of their way to get people to become their religion. But do you understand why? Maybe not. We believe with all our heart that if you do not accept Jesus Christ as your savior you will not go to heaven, you will be eternally separated from God in hell.(John 14:6 NIV) Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. The Bible also commands us to love people because we were all made in the image of God and because He loves all of us and sent His Son (Jesus) to die for our sins.

So hang with me here for a moment, if you are really not closed minded. If you will agree that this is what Christians believe, whether or not you believe it is true, then you will start to understand why we act the way we do.

It is like this. Say one day I am not feeling well so I go to a doctor. He examines me and tells me that I have a terminal disease. Then he tells me that he has the cure. He tells me that he is the only one who has the cure. He cures me.

I leave the office and I see everyone around me and I know because the doctor told me that they all also have the terminal disease. The problem is that they don't know it. The doctor is free and will treat anyone who walks into his office. What should I do? Should I go about my business and not care about anyone else since I have been cured? Or should I start stopping people and describing the symptoms to them in order to get them to realize that they too need the cure only this doctor has? Some will go see the doctor. Others will laugh at me. However, some will get mad at me for being so intolerant of their disease. How can I be so closed minded?

That is the dilemma Christians face. If they are quiet and don't witness to people those people will die and be separated from God, but even if they do witness many people like yourself will refuse to listen and even get mad. God makes it clear that we have to try even if the people don't want to hear: (Ezekiel 3:18-19 NIV) When I say to a wicked man, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. {19} But if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin; but you will have saved yourself.

So what you see as a hateful attitude by Christians is really a response of love and obedience to the God that saved us.

You stated if God is who I say He is then you would rather spend eternity in hell. Well God will give you that wish, but I pray that you will change your mind. The bottom line is this; God loves you and wants to have a relationship with you, but He will not force Himself on you. No matter whether you think Christians are forcing people to believe or not, it is not true. If I held a gun to your head and made you ask Jesus into your heart, it would do no good, because it has to be your free will choice. We cannot force anyone, it does not work that way.

God could have made us without a choice in the matter. In fact if He had there would not be any sin in the world because we would not be able to choose to commit any sin. I for one am glad He did not make us that way, because we would be no more than slaves. Talk about a manipulative God!!! But that is not what He did, He made us with free will to choose what we want; to serve Him and have a relationship or to reject Him and be eternally separated from Him. But in the end you will not be able to blame anyone else, it is your choice and your's alone.

All you have to do is ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart and cleanse you. Of course you also have to believe that He is really the Son of God and that He died for your sins, but other than that you don't have to do anything. Jesus already did it for you.

If you are open minded and a free thinker, how about reading the Bible sometime? But it won't do any good unless you truly have an open mind. You don't have to sit down and try to believe it, just be open to what it says and read it. But be careful, you might just end up like one of us...

Hey, I was just kidding, well kind of anyway. My point is you might just see something that you never saw before and decide for yourself to accept Jesus as your savior. But in the end as I said before it will be your choice.

Thanks again for writing me.

A few days later this exchange took place:

Well I guess I do owe you an explanation, I came across this web page while looking up information for a thesis, it totally put down my religion. and of course it was a Christian page which of course made me very anger. I was going to email the bugger and blow a spaz at the s*** he put down but noticed there was no address in which to send comments, the coward!!! he had but one link, to your page,, noticing that it had an address I decided to send my comments to you!! you have to understand that I mean no harm,, it just bugs me when people write s*** like that when they have no clue what they are talking about!, how would you feel if I made up a web site saying how bad and evil christianity is?,, and I do have an open mind, I have read the bible and I once was christian, but I wandered off the path and found the religion for me!

christianity bothered me because I saw men at the clubs watching women dance in a kinky sort of ways, then saw the same men going to church the next day,, but when the weekend came they would be back at the club lusting over the women!! hypocricy if you ask me! I think it is absolutly impossible not to sin! I'm sure you would agree. we live in one f*** up world!!in my first year of university I wrote a paper on the conection between obsessive christians and their rebelious past.. and believe me when I say there is quite a connection... it seems that most highly religious christians were at one time big time drug users or something of that sort. maybe you could give me your oppinion on why you think this is the case.. don't tell me that this is bull s*** because I know for a FACT it isn't ,, and I hope that you don't take offence but I am curious to know !!

Thank you for explaining what happened. Well at least I am not a coward, my e-mail address is all over my pages, as you found.

I even understand your frustration and anger over what people say, but... Hey, you had to know there was a but in there somewhere. But, you should not judge the whole Christian community by the actions of some of the people who claim to be Christians. That is not fair and in fact is probably exactly what you got mad at. You did not tell me what your religion was and what the person said about it that upset you, but I would like to show you what I mean. Let's say you are Wicca, okay? Now lets say that I put on my site that Wicca's are nasty, foul mouthed and hate Christians. That they would like to see Christians burned at the stake just like the so called witches were during the witch hunts. And lets say I say even more derogatory things. Am I wrong? What if I have had experiences with 'some' Wicca's who are like that? My point is that just because some people do not even practice what their religion teaches, the fact that they go by that name is enough to cause people to judge the whole religion wrongly. I feel that is what you are doing.

I will not disagree with you a bit about the hypocrisy in the Christian community. I would venture to say I hate it even more than you do. Here is a thought; if a hypocrite is standing between you and your relationship with God that means the hypocrite is closer to God than you are! You can't be between two things and not be closer to each than the other one is. My point is; don't judge Christ by what His 'so called' followers do, judge Him on what He has done and is doing and who He is. I am a very poor example of what Christ is, because I am a fallible human being. As hard as I try I can't be the person I should be. With God's help I am getting closer all the time, but am still a long ways off.

I will try to answer your question about why the most religious people are the ex-drug dealers, etc... I am making a couple of assumptions; first that when you say most religious you mean people who actually live what they talk not the hypocrites. Second that since you called them obsessive, you don't like them either. So here goes; I would put myself in this category, I try very hard to live the life that I think God wants me to live. I also, as you can tell from my web page, try to witness to others and let them know what I have found. So why am I like this and why are so many other 'hard core' Christians like this. Well, all I have to do is quote a passage of scripture to explain it. (Luke 7:39-47 NIV) When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is--that she is a sinner." {40} Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to tell you." "Tell me, teacher," he said. {41} "Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. {42} Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?" {43} Simon replied, "I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled." "You have judged correctly," Jesus said. {44} Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. {45} You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. {46} You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. {47} Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven--for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."

The key verse for me is the very last one. You see I grew up in a Christian home and I accepted Jesus as my savior when I was very young. I thought I understood who He was and what He did for me, but as soon as I was in the Marine Corps and away from the Christian influence of home, I started doing a lot of bad things. I continued in those ways for the next 20 years, until my second wife accepted Jesus as her savior and I saw such a change in her that it brought me back to my knees. The difference this time was that I understood what Jesus did for me. I was forgiven much and I love Him much. I hope that makes sense to you, those ex-drug dealers and ex-alcoholics, rapist, wife abusers, etc... have been forgiven much and therefore love much.

Well again thanks for writing back and giving me an explanation for your first e-mail. Take care.
