I need help and I need answers!

I don't know if im sending this to the right person but if we ask for forgiveness will that mean God will answer are prayers? I'm only 14 and I have about the worst life that there could be. I wanna believe in God but what he is putting me through I don't even know if anything is true. I need help and I need answers. I wish for good and prayed for good but now I pray to die or to never have been born. I'm young and I should be having fun, right? Well it's not like that. Not like that at all. My father had left 3 years ago and he used to beat me and put me through hell. When he left I thought everything would be better. But then again my life became hell. My mom don't care for me and my sister has her own life and left me and now my brother lives with my dad. So I'm all alone. And I don't like it. I need help...

My response is in Green:

Thank you for writing me. I will try my best to give you some help and answers. I am sorry to hear that you have had such a tough life so far. I can understand why you question if there is a God or not, but I want you to know that there is. One of the hardest things to understand is if there is a God why does He allow thing like this to happen to people like you. As you said you are young and you should enjoy your life, but that is not the real world. The real world is an evil place full of evil people.

We have to go back to the beginning to understand what is going on and why God allows it to go on. When God created Adam and Eve, there was no evil in the world. Everything was good and the way it should be. God did not create slaves or robots, He created thinking human beings. He loved them and wanted them to love Him. Part of loving someone is listening to them and not doing things which they don't like. God only gave them one thing they were not to do and that was to eat of one tree in the middle of the garden. Satan came to Eve and talked her into eating from that tree and she gave some to Adam who also ate.

That caused a lot of things to happen. God is a holy being and He demands that we obey Him. They did not obey Him and brought judgment on themselves and unfortunately on us too. God, because He is holy demands death for sin. That is when death started. Before Adam and Eve sinned there was no death in all of creation, but after they sinned death came and stayed.

God still loved them and He loves all of us too, but He still does not want robots who have no choice in whether to love Him or not. His holy nature demanded that whoever sins be punished by death. Not just physical death, which we will all go through some day, but a spiritual death; being separated from God and His love for eternity. This verse shows how much God loves us: (Romans 5:8 NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Because God is holy and just, He cannot just forgive and forget out sins, they have to be paid for by death. Yet He is also a merciful and loving God who does not want us to be separated from His love. So he did something that would take care of both His justice and His mercy; He sent His one and only Son, Jesus to die for us. I won't get too deep into this, but you need to understand that God is One being but yet He is three different individuals, so Jesus, who came to earth to die for us, was and is God also. So in fact God died in our place. Only God could die in someone's place because only God is holy and without sin.

He sent Jesus to earth as a human. He lived a sinless life, and died for our sins. God then raised Him from the dead and He is now back in heaven with God the Father. All we have to do is choose to believe in Him and ask Him to forgive us. Then we need to live the kind of life that He wants us to live.

Again I want to say that God does not want slaves. He could and He will one day make everyone worship Him, but that is not what He wants, He wants us to love and worship Him because we want to. That is the problem with the world. We are all born sinners; which means that in our hearts we are all bad and tend to do bad things. Some of us do worse things than others, but we have all done something bad. (Ezekiel 18:4 NIV) For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son--both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die. (Romans 3:22-23 NIV) This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, {23} for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...

So you might be asking what this all has to do with you. Well for one you too need to ask Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Savior and to forgive you for the sins you have committed. It also helps explain what is going on in your life. See God does not play around with people and make their lives terrible just for fun. He hates the things that you described, but since He gives us all free will to choose what kind of person we want to be, it makes it possible for people to mistreat others. There is a good side to even that, and that is that God will help you. He will walk with you and help you through those tough times. Here are a couple of my favorite passages from the Bible that explain just that: (Isaiah 40:28-31 NIV) Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. {29} He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. {30} Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; {31} but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. And: (Isaiah 41:10-12 NIV) So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. {11} "All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. {12} Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.

If you accept Christ as your Savior, that does not mean that your problems will end. For instance if your father is a jerk before you accept Christ he will be a jerk after also. What it does mean is that God will help you handle that situation better. It also means that after you ask Jesus to forgive you that you become a child of God. God has a plan for every one of His children. I have no idea what it might be for you but I guarantee you that He does have a plan for your life.

You mentioned that your Mother does not take care of you and your sister has her own life. One thing that might help is if you could get hooked up with a local church. Most churches have a youth group which would be kids about your age. You need this kind of support. I would encourage you to get and read a Bible too. It will help you know who God is. It is also how we strengthen our faith.

Well I hope that helped a little bit. It is important for you to realize that if you don't have a relationship with God (meaning that you have not accepted Jesus as your Savior) then He probably won't answer your prayers. God wants what is best for you and in the long run spending eternity with Him is best. So He often does not address anything for a person until they get that taken care of. Ask God to show you that He is real and that He loves you.

If you have further questions please write me back.
