Not One God but Many

Thank you for signing my guestbook. I checked out and enjoyed your page. Yes I am pagan, and like most true pagans in the world, I respect all beliefs and even yours. I was once a faithful christian until upon studying the Holy Bible ( A book I still find contentment and enjoyment in reading ) that I discovered my path. Christians have been so instrumental in my pagan development that I feel I owe them so much. Passages such as these:

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on Earth" Genesis 1:26

Leading me to know that there is not one God, but many!

My response is in Green:

Thanks for writing me. You said you had once been a faithful Christian, your words. But yet I wonder why you have never seemed to have heard of the Trinity. What I mean by the Trinity is God in three persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. They are one being but yet three personages. That is why Genesis says "Let Us make man in Our image." I won't deny that the Trinity is a hard concept for the human mind to understand, but the words Us and Our should in no way lead you to believe that the Bible is teaching anything other than one living supreme God.

You shall have no other Gods before me Exodus 20:3 (3rd Commandment)

Here God does not deny the existance of other Gods. He does not say, no other false Gods, or false idols, he say's no other Gods. Even further, he does not even say do not worship other Gods at all. Just not to before him!. Meaning worship him First! So I do. (Even though he is a Jealous and Angry God)

One thing you have to remember is that the Bible was written for human beings. You see man is very good at making other gods. If the most important thing in your life is money then it is your god. Does that mean it is alive and can do anything for you like the Living God can? No, but it is a god to you. Almost anything can be a god in a persons life, that is what the Bible is talking about. Man makes statues and calls them gods and worships them, or man worships the wind and the rain, so they are gods. So in a way you are right there are many gods, but in fact there is only one real living God. Look at what Jesus has to say about it: John 5:43-44 "I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?"

Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the East of Eden. And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city and called the name of the city after the name of his son -- Enoch Genesis 4:16-17

This always puzzled me because I wondered where his wife came from. Of course the Legends of Cain and Abel were as most Legends, derived from Pagan folklore. Cain and Able is nothing more than an adaptation of Osiris and his brother Typhon, whom slew his brother Osiris. And from Norse mythology as well with Thor and Loki. Of course Loki never slew Thor, but certainly not from lack of trying, after which Loki was cast out of Valhalla to a nether region where he came to know his wife Hel. I could quote a dozen others, but you do not want to read e-mail for hours.

It is not hard to figure where Cain's wife came from. She would have been either his sister or possibly a niece. The Bible says God created Adam and Eve and told them to be fruitful and multiply. They had many children. Since they were the only couple God created then their children would have to marry their brothers and sisters. But you must remember the gene pool would have been pure at that time, so it would not have the same effect doing that would today.

Another is the immaculate conception of Jesus Christ. Been done and done and done. Budda was a child of immaculate conception as was Osiris, Dionyus, Gruagach... again too many to mention!

The point is, is that there is no original content in the Bible that was not at first a Pagan belief. Even all christian holidays were originally pagan ones.

You are only half right. First you say all holidays were originally pagan. Well that is only half right. The pagans had a holiday in December but instead of celebrating that the Christians decided to celebrate Christ's birth. Easter was a pagan holiday, but the Christians did not want to celebrate that either so they celebrate Christ's death and resurrection.

Now you say that there is no original content in the Bible. You are wrong. The problem is that Satan has never had any original thoughts. Everything he has set up in other religions has been a mockery of God's plan. You need to check out the dates on the original transcripts before you claim everything in the Bible is copied after paganism. I will give you another example that has not even happened yet, but it will. Christ rose from the dead, well Satan has not gotten that into any religion yet, but during the tribulation he will cause the false prophet to come back to life after a 'fatal' wound. Again his attempt to mock Christ. So in a way I agree with you but you have it backwards.

So whose religion is the right one??? My answer is both. All regions are based in essence in and around each other. Mine is much older is all. Beliefs are different but essentially the same in all denominations. And of Christianity supercharges life for you my friend, than I support it in you with all of my being. For I love all mankind as I love all the Earth surrounding mankind in Nature. And I respect each and every beleif.

Let me ask you something, what is going to happen to you once you stop breathing? Do you become one with the universe? Do you come back as someone else? Deep in your heart I believe there is the knowledge that what makes you, who you are will never die. What I mean by that is I don't believe you can honestly believe that one day you will just cease to exist. I know I can't believe that. God made us eternal beings and I think we all deep down know it. We will either spend eternity enjoying God and His creation or suffering. But one place or another we will exist for ever.

I believe that the reason Christianity became so popular is the fact that man created a Good and Evil system with it by creating within the confines of their minds, the myth of Satan (One I do not personally believe) to scare people into Christianity. To make Christianity sound wholesomely good, and anything that differs a damnation. The thousands killed in the Crusades and the Burning Times for not believeing I am sure helped a good bit as well.

Man did not create good and evil. You can believe that if you want to, but why would man do that? Why would a bunch of guys just decide to create a religion then be willing to die for the lie they made up? You can document the deaths of almost all of the early Christians without looking at the Bible. The Romans kept very good records. Why would a person be willing to die for a made up tail if all they had to do is admit it was false and then they could live?

Also I hear a lot that "Christians" killed thousands in the Crusades and the burning times. The problem is that you can't prove Christians killed even one person. Before you go nuts on me, let me explain. I agree thousands of people were killed but I disagree that "Christians" did it. Now I will admit that these people claimed to be Christians, but my problem with that is what is a Christian? A Christian is someone who follows Christ. Will you agree with that? Now if a person follows Christ they will not kill as those people did. Christ told His followers to go tell the world of the good news, but He never once said, go kill anyone who refuses to believe. So by the mere fact that these people did kill many people proves they were not Christians.

Anyway I do not know if you read through this all. It is not my intension to have you convert, but only to understand the ways of my kind better. We do not believe in or worship your Satan. We are about all good things in Love and Nature. Brightest Blessings to you
Walk in both Love and Light
Blessed Be,

I have heard that before and I believe that you really believe that. But my problem with that is that if you deny Christ than you are serving Satan and fulfilling his plan. I would like to ask you a few questions. You said you use to be a Christian, does that mean you at one time asked Jesus to come into your heart and forgive you of your sins? If you never asked Him to be your Savior than you never really knew Him. There are many false religions out there. This is what Jesus had to say about it: Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

Well I enjoyed this discussion. If you would like to continue it I would love to also. Take care.
