Perversion in the Church and the Coming Persecution

Satan has tried to pervert the church from its conception. He has seeded it with false doctrine and the lust for hidden knowledge, etc... Paul told Timothy that in the last days people would not put up with sound doctrine.

2 Tim. 4:2-4 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction. [3] For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. [4] They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. [NIV]

Knowing all this, I guess we should not be surprised that such things are taking place today. Let me quote from an article on

An annual convention of American religion scholars from prominent institutions will feature sessions favorable toward sadomasochism, transvestism, transsexualism and polyamory - participation in multiple sexual relationships.

Ken Stone of Chicago Theological Seminary says a passage from the book of Jeremiah, chapter 20, verses 7-18, "can be construed more usefully as a kind of ritual S/M encounter between the male deity Yahweh and his male devotee."

This is sick and it is happening inside the church. Where is the outcry against it?

Here is a short quote from an article in USA Today (the full article can be read here:

The openly gay Episcopal bishop whose ordination threatens to fracture the worldwide Anglican Communion said Wednesday he "genuinely and deeply regrets" the pain this caused some believers, but he sees no need to repent because "the Holy Spirit led us."

Never mind that the Bible calls homosexuality an abomination. Never mind that Paul in his writings tells us that sexually immoral people, including homosexuals won't inherit the Kingdom of God. I have said this before, but the fact that making this openly homosexual man a bishop, has caused some Episcopal churches to talk about splitting from the denomination, only shows how far gone the church is. This man has been an Episcopal priest for 20 years. If that was not enough for those church leaders to have a problem with the church then why would making him a bishop pose a problem for them?

For the past few weekends the Democratic candidate has spoken at mainstream black protestant churches. I understand that the black community thinks that the Democrats care more about the poor then the Republicans do, and even though I don't think that is true, I can understand it. The problem I have is that these black church leaders are endorsing from their pulpits a person who supports abortion on demand, supports abortions being paid for by your tax money, supports homosexual marriage and special rights for homosexuals, supports hates crimes laws, which will be used and are already being used to silence Christians, supports partial birth abortion and many more immoral policies.

It has been said that politics makes strange bedfellows, but this is way over the line. How can these people claim to love Christ and believe His word and yet support someone who is in such opposition to it?

If you follow the news you will know that many mainstream denominations are embracing the homosexual lifestyle. They are ordaining openly homosexual pastors and priests. Many so called Christian denominations no longer claim that the Bible is inerrant, or that Christ lived a sinless life, or that all humans are born as sinners in need of a savior, or that Jesus is the only way to God the Father.

I encourage you to get the facts. Divorce, once looked on as a grave sin, now is just as prevalent inside the church as outside the church. In fact some statistics actually show that there are more divorces inside the church percentage wise than there are outside the church.

The Lord must grieve over His bride. He loves us but all you have to do is read the letters to the seven churches in Revelation to know He will not put up with our sin for long.

I spoke out about public education a while back and received a letter from a Christian public school teacher who was upset with me. In her defense of the public school system, she made a statement that we (the public school) must teach tolerance of the homosexual lifestyle or otherwise the other kids will harass them.

She is a elementary teacher, so I take that to mean she thinks they should be taught tolerance of the homosexual lifestyle in grade school. But even if she meant in high school I have a real problem with this kind of thinking. I believe when you get to the point where Christians are advocating teaching tolerance of sin Satan has already won the battle.

Let me explain what I mean. I don't mean that we should allow kids to harass each other over anything. They should be taught that people are different, they are different colors, different sexes, different physical body shapes and it is inappropriate to harass or tease people about any of these. That is just teaching good citizenship. But when you pick out a sinful lifestyle and teach tolerance for it, you have just endorsed that lifestyle, like it or not.

Where do you draw the line? The very same arguments that are made about the homosexual lifestyle could be made for the pedophile lifestyle. The pro-homosexual supporters try to claim it is not sinful, it isn't even a choice. Well you could claim the same for pedophilia. If it is true of homosexuals, then why isn't it true for pedophiles? If it is true for both then why don't we teach tolerance for both?

If as a Christian you truly believe God's word that homosexuality is a sin, and that it is a choice (sin has to be a choice, or it is not sin) then how can you advocate teaching tolerance for it? Would you teach tolerance for rapists? For thieves? How about liars?

If a child is caught harassing anyone for any reason they should be punished, but elevating the sinful behavior of the other person is not how you take care of the problem. The law says it is wrong to steal, but if you kill a thief who has done nothing but steal from you, you will go to jail. That does not mean we teach people to be tolerant of thieves it means that we make sure people know that it is wrong, but the right to punish belongs to someone else not them. The same is true for pedophilia and homosexuality. They are both wrong and should not be elevated by teaching tolerance, but that does not mean you can't teach civility to all people. Civility and tolerance are two different things.

My point is not to go after public education, but rather the idea that Christians have become all too willing to embrace the idea of tolerance for open sin.

I pray that Christians wake up before it is too late. They don't seem to discern the signs of the coming persecution. The Christians in America have been all but silent about the persecution in distant lands. The signs are all around us that this same persecution is coming to our own door step, will we be ready?

The following was taken from The Covenant News website, the whole article can be read here:

PHILADELPHIA -- On Sunday, October 10, 2004, eleven Christians with the Philadelphia-based Repent America were arrested, jailed, and charged under hate crimes legislation during an evangelistic outreach at the annual "OutFest" homosexual pride event held in the public streets of Philadelphia.

The six men and five women representing Repent America approached the event and were immediately confronted with unlawful opposition by a group of homosexuals. This group, the "Pink Angels", was formed by homosexual attorney Chuck Volz, a senior adviser to Philly Pride Presents, organizers of the annual OutFest event which receives $22,500 yearly from the City of Philadelphia. The "Pink Angels" blocked access to Repent America by forming a human chain, refusing to allow the Christians to walk down the public sidewalk. Police intervened shortly thereafter, escorting Repent America through the human blockade.

While on the public sidewalk and street inside the event, Repent America began to open-air preach with the use of Scripture banners, and to distribute Gospel literature, as members of the "Pink Angels" blew loud whistles and carried large signs alongside the Christians to block their message and their access to the event attendees, while others screamed obscenities. The police refused to take action as the Christians were continuously followed, obstructed, and harassed.

Repent America obeyed all laws, and even the unlawful requests, to move by the Philadelphia Civil Affairs police officers in an effort of cooperation. Regardless of Repent America's compliance, Chief James Tiano, head of the Civil Affairs Unit, without warning, ordered the arrests of the Christians and hauled them off to jail, where they spent 21 hours, before being released the following day. Ten Christians were individually charged with three felonies and five misdemeanors, while a teenager with the group was charged with a misdemeanor.

I am pretty sure that you have not heard this story on the radio or television or read it in any major newspaper. The mainstream media won't report on this kind of story. So while Christians are being locked up under hate crimes laws because they dare to speak out about the sinfulness of homosexuality, many Christians are advocating teaching our children tolerance for this lifestyle.

Mark my words when the persecution intensifies those Christians who preached tolerance will be just as persecuted as those of us who didn't, of course unless they choose to deny their Lord.

When Christians tolerate sin and refuse to take stands their countries suffer. When Christians are willing to allow the innocent in their society to die and call it choice, their land will reap destruction. We need to find our voice before it is too late.

Let me quote a man who wrote an article about the people arrested in Philadelphia:

Just wanted to make sure you were aware of this. Suppression of Christians under 'hate crime' laws is no longer theoretical or confined to Canada or Sweden. You might want to let any legislator who voted for 'hate crime' laws at the state or federal level know how you feel about the part he or she is playing in building a system that will jail us and our children someday for living out our faith. Hiding behind a "pro-life" or "pro-marriage" label will not suffice any more. -- Bob Knight

You might be asking why I put perversion in the church and the coming persecution together in this article. The answer is simple, the church by allowing the perversions to take place and not speaking out and not teaching sound doctrine is a party to the coming persecution just as if they supported it outright.

Rev. 3:1-6 "To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: 'I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. [2] 'Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God. [3] 'So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. [4] 'But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. [5] 'He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. [6] 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' [NASB-U]

We all need to check to see if we have soiled our garments, if we have, we better repent and cleanse them in Jesus' blood before it is too late. We live and serve Christ in this world but we are not to be soiled by it. It should not bother us what the world says of us. If they call us intolerant, so be it. If they call us fundamentalist, so what? If they call us narrow minded, praise God!! Only the narrow minded will enter through the narrow gate which leads to life.
