Whose responsibility is it to make sure your children grow up in the fear and admonition of the Lord? Whose responsibility is it to make sure that your children know God's law?
Deut. 6:5-7 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. [NIV]
Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. [NIV]
It is not the responsibility of the public schools to train your children in the way they should go. It is your responsibility. Secular education is fine, if it is limited to academics but that is sadly not what public education is these days, nor has been for many years now.
I upset a lot of Christian public school teachers when I speak out about the public schools, but facts are facts. The schools are indoctrinating our children in the way of the world and sadly many souls will be lost because parents did nothing to protect them.
This is not just a side issue of little consequence, this is an issue of eternal importance. The public schools are promoting the homosexual lifestyle. They are preaching the religion of Evolution. They are subverting the authority and guidance of the parents.
Children are very susceptible to influence by those in authority over them, whether it is a teacher, a coach or a parent, but when there is a conflict between what the parent says and what the teacher or other authority figure says, the child will often believe the teacher. That is because we set up the teachers as the intellectual authority figure in the child's life. So when the parents teach the child that the earth was created by God and the school teaches that everything came into being by evolution, the child is more inclined to believe the teacher.
This is why public school is so dangerous to Christian children. It can and often does destroy the faith of these children. Jesus had something to say about this:
Matthew 18:5-9 "And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. "Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! If your hand or your foot causes you to sin cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell. [NIV]
The caution here is not just for the world, it is for all of us. If we cause one of these children who believe in Jesus to stumble it would be better for us to have a millstone hung around our necks and be drowned. Why? Because if we were drowned, we could do no more damage to these children.
I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but parents better take this warning to heart too. If you allow the State to indoctrinate your child into the ways of the world and destroy their faith you have some responsibility in the matter too. Taking them to church and even youth group won't replace a true education into God's ways.
I have even had Christian public school teachers tell me that I am naive and don't understand children today. I was told that 'we have to teach the children to be tolerant of the homosexual lifestyle because otherwise they will tease the homosexual children.' Whatever happened to teaching children that teasing is wrong and to not pick on anyone? To teach tolerance is promoting of the lifestyle. If you tell a child that we are all different and there is nothing wrong with a particular lifestyle you have just promoted that lifestyle. You may have the best of intentions but the end result is that you have promoted a sinful lifestyle.
What if kids tease a drug abuser? Would we then teach them to respect drug addicts because that is just another legitimate lifestyle? What about the neo-nazi skin head, should we teach that as a legitimate lifestyle? Then why would be teach respect for the sinful lifestyle of homosexuality?
Am I advocating home schooling? You bet I am. Who better to teach your child than you? You may think that you can't give your child a good education, but you have your head in the sand if you think that your child is presently getting a good education at the public schools. Look at the statistics, look at the scores that American kids get compared to the rest of the world. Not only are they not getting a good education, but they are being led away from the Lord.
There are hundreds of articles I could quote, but I won't take too much space here. However, I do want to quote a couple so that you can see what public education is really about:
The 6 million-member National Parent-Teacher Association has agreed for a second year to feature a pro-homosexual group at its annual convention, while rejecting a group that says homosexuality is not an inborn trait. (taken from http://www.washtimes.com/national/20050509-094332-3782r.htm)
I am told over and over that the schools are not promoting one lifestyle over another, but when the National PTA makes a stand like this, the facts just don't stack up to that idea.
According to ADF, 10-year-old student Luke Whitson used his regularly scheduled recess time to read the Bible with a few friends on his school's playground. After receiving a complaint from a parent, the principal reportedly ordered the students to stop their activity, put their Bibles away and cease from bringing them to school. (taken from http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44223)
A child can't read his Bible in school even during free time or at recess. These parents are suing the school, but is that what they should be doing? I think the first thing they should do is get their child out of the school. Look at what is taught after recess:
Through its innocuous-sounding "educational" programming arm known as TeachKind, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has found a way to reach school children starting as young as kindergarten with its extremist agenda. The opportunity for PETA to get its message into the classroom has been paved, at least in part, by various laws on the books in at least 12 states mandating humane education in public schools - thus creating a demand for curricula centered on teaching children about the humane treatment of animals. (taken from http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,156398,00.html)
PETA is not just a left wing nut case group, it promotes evolution. That is why they believe animals have as many rights as humans, because we are all animals and none of us is better or worse than the others. They not only don't believe we were created in God's image, they don't believe we were created at all or for that matter that this is a God.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know those views of evolution will come over loud and clear in their teaching. How many kids will think their parents are mistaken after being indoctrinated by this obscene 'programming?'
A December 1 New York Post article states: "Who says students can't pray in public school? The Board of Education allows Muslim students to worship in school buildings during the holy month of Ramadan, The Post has learned.
"One Brooklyn high school gives Islamic students special privileges to be 15 minutes late for class and to turn the auditorium into a makeshift mosque for their daily prayer vigil."(taken from http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCommentary.asp?Page=%5CCommentary%5Carchive%5C200012%5CCOM20001205d.html)
A small child sees his Muslim classmates going and praying and worshipping, while his religion is forbidden to be even spoken about. What is this child going to think about which one is right and which one is intolerant and mistaken?
Harvard psychiatry professor Chester Pierce enunciated at the Childhood International Seminar in 1973 in Denver:
Every child in America entering school at the age of 5 is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our founding fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward sovereignty of his nation as a separate entity. It's up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well - by creating the international child of the future. (page 192 of None Dare Call it Education)
This is not an isolated statement by an isolated individual. It is the mantra of many in public education at the highest levels. If you want a real eye opener, read the book The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America by Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt. It is filled with comments like this from as far back as nineteenth century.
Look what Hitler had to say:
"Let me control the textbooks and I will control the state..." - Adolph Hitler
The person or persons who control what your child is taught has a lot of control over their mind, and their soul. Who will you give that kind of power and authority to?
These devotionals are written by Ralph Dettwiler, and reflect his views.
