Thoughts to Ponder

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
Jeremiah 1:5

God calls it a CHILD

We hear a lot these days that an unborn child is a blob of tissue, a fetus, an embryo, an unviable tissue mass, the product of conception. Anything that takes away the humanity of the unborn child. We have gone so far as to allow a child to be killed just moments before taking its first breath of air.

Abortion clinics never tell the mothers that the child in their womb has fingers, hair, fingernails, eyes, hands, feet, eye lashes or anything else that might distinguish it as a human being. Why is that? We all know the answer to that, they don't want the mothers to start thinking about this mass of tissue as a baby or she might change her mind.

Don't think I don't know what I am talking about. Before we met my wife became pregnant twice and for reasons best explained in her testimony ( ) she decided to have an abortion. She can tell you what goes on in those clinics, plus there are plenty of other woman who can tell you the same thing.

At this point you should have no doubt where I stand on this issue. You may even wonder why I would address it on a page geared towards Christians. Well I get messages from Christians who don't look at things in black and white, they see a lot of gray. I got a message from one person who called herself a Christian but who was upset that I had a link to the page by Carol Everett. She told me that there was no way I could understand since I was a man. She went on to say that life is not always the best choice. She brought up rape, lack of money, incest, deformed baby and a few other reasons why life was not always the right choice. Well I want to take a stand right now and say life is always the right choice!!

Let's look at what God told Jeremiah: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5 Notice that God Himself takes credit for forming Jeremiah in his mother's womb. God also say He knew Jeremiah even before that event happened.

All life is created by the divine hand of God. Sin has contaminated creation and has caused many things to happen that would not happen in a sinless world. Rape is a horrible sin and my heart goes out to all victims of this crime. However, if a life is created because of that crime it is no less a divinely created life just because it occurred as the result of a sinful act. That innocent life is precious to God and should be to us too.

In His Word God shows that He considers this "product of conception" to be a child: The angel of the LORD also said to her: "You are now with child and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the LORD has heard of your misery. Genesis 16:11 and again: When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! Luke 1:41-42 (emphasis added)

As Christians we should never look at the circumstances and decide then whether a life is worth keeping or not. Maybe keeping the baby to raise is not always the right thing but the life should be protected and the baby allowed to live.

Satan will try to work both sides of this issue. Many times well meaning Christians fall prey to Satan's twisted ideology. I am sure you have heard this too: "Isn't it better for the abortion to happen than for the child to grow up in an abusive home where it is not loved?" Or the thought is like this: "Well all children are saved by grace until they are old enough to accept Christ, so if a baby is aborted that soul will go to be with God. Isn't that better than bringing an unwanted life, or a baby with a sever disability into this world? " Again I say NO!

This lie of Satan's is a lot more subtle than most. How can it be from Satan if it implies a soul gets to heaven? The answer to that is the same reason that we are allowed by God to have free will. God could destroy us all and start over. He could create beings who are holy and who never sin, never even are tempted to sin. Wouldn't that be better for us too? We would never have to suffer, or be tempted or die a physical death. Would we be able to really love God then? There would be no choice and without a real choice can there be real love on our part? We would be no better than robots.

Why are we on this earth? Is it not to bring glory to God? To serve Him and to show His love and glory to others through our lives? So, yes God loves those aborted babies and they are with Him now, but what a travesty it is that they never had the chance to choose to serve Him. Never had the chance to feel the loving presence of the Holy Spirit as He nudged them to Christ. They never got to share their faith with someone who might have believed because of them. They never got to experience life so that they could understand what a special gift God gave us in His Son Jesus Christ who died for our sins.

Please don't get me wrong, knowing that the souls of aborted babies are now with God is a comfort, but it should not lull us into feeling that abortion is not all that bad after all.
