Thoughts to Ponder

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
Genesis 1:1

Is there life outside earth? Movies have been made of this. We have looked to the stars for navigational guidance, for answers to our problems or questions (astrology) since the beginning of time. Now we're looking for other life forms. In the Wall Street Journal (July 16, 1997), Guillermo Gonzalez, a research astronomer wrote an article on this very thing. Our planetary existence is very fragile. If earth were tilted just a little closer to the sun, it would be too hot to live in and if it tilted just a little bit away from the sun, it would be too cold for habitation. Mr. Gonzalez writes that in order to sustain life, the planet must have at least these basic ingredients: liquid water, a long-term, stable energy source and a number of key chemical elements (bacteria require hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, sodium, magnesium, phosphorous, sulfur, chlorine, potassium, calcium, manganese, iron, cobalt, copper, zinc and molybdenum. And that doesn't guarantee life. Now to determine if alien life exists, there are other elements to consider. Where the planet is located, the size and presence of a moon, other planets in it's locality, the age of its star (sun). You see, we are living in a planet that was perfectly designed to sustain life. It wasn't by chance, or an accidental meeting of two gases. It was formed by a loving God who wanted to create a beautiful place. Mr. Gonzalez ends his article this way: "We should not be asking; "Are we alone?" We should be asking instead: "Why are we here?" Genesis 1:31 "God saw all that he had made, and it was very good."

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27

Since the beginning man has been fascinated with the origins of life. Darwin made the popular evolution theory. Every living thing is constantly evolving. Have things changed since Darwin's day? We evolved from ooze. (Frightening thought) I've heard peopled called slime, but this stretches the imagination. We are descended from apes. New evidence shows that those bones found were really apes. So throw that theory out the window. Two gases came together in an explosion and voila, the universe was formed and everything in it. Original, but no cigar. None of these theories has convinced me that life was started other than the hand of God. There are no proof given, just speculation. God on the other hand comes out and says He did it. We were created just as we are. No evolving from ooze or apes.

I argue that everything has its beginnings. Take a cell for instance. Scientist have not been able to create a cell. They've figured out how to clone, but not create. How is that the structure to create life (DNA) is the way it is? Each cell is intricately woven to be an eye or an ear. Each body part has its own function that is essential to us. You can't life without a heart, or brain, or lungs, you get the picture. Scientist have not been able to duplicate these organs. We have the ability to transplant certain organs but not recreate them. Skin you say? Yeah, but there has to be a master skin to start off the process.

So you see, life begins with God. That little tiny cell is miraculously transformed to be a baby, to grow into adulthood. We were not cloned. We are purposely made to be unique. It's not a "fetus" it's a "life." A woman's right to choose destroys God's plan. Every life is a gift from God. Your heavenly Father took great pleasure in creating you. There is no one like you on this earth, even if you are a twin. He knows you better than you know yourself. He wanted you here whether or not you say you didn't ask to be born. God is faithful and loves you for who you are no matter what it is you have done in your life. Ask Him. Talk to Him. He has always been there for you if you only reached out to Him.
