My name is Ralph Dettwiler and I have been a Christian since I was a young man, however, when I joined the Marine Corps at the end of the Vietnam war I put God to the side. I did many things that I would never have thought I would do. After leaving the Marine Corps I joined the Beaufort County South Carolina Sheriff's Department.

I loved police work and I threw my whole body, mind and soul into it. I moved up the ranks and quickly became a Sergeant. I became a Shift Commander and Director of the K-9 Division. Police work became my god, although I did not realize it at the time. I saw so much evil, so many things that humans do to other humans, that I got very cold inside. I would not let anyone close to me. My marriage was destroyed and I realized I had no friends other than those I worked with. At the age of 30 I felt like an 80 year old man.

Death no longer scared me, it began to even look good because it would get me out of this painful existence. Many Police Officers get to this point and end up taking their own lives. One night while I was trying to discipline a Deputy, he threatened to kill me. In that moment I realized there was not anyone I could trust, not even other officers. It was then that I realized that Christ was the answer. He is the answer if you have problems too. If you would like to know more please E-Mail Ralph
